POLLS
Flashback to Mondayās poll:

āGotta tap into this 4G coverage on the moonā This is true, I heard Netflix is super fast up there. Idk about you but Iām tryna Netflix and float šØāš
āI would go on a long space flight. Matter of fact I would move to space, seriously, maybe Mars. Accelerate. Transcend.ā Elon, is that you???
āIs the Earth round? Has it ever snowed in Minnesota in June? Does Arsicault bakery serve the best pastries in the Bay area? You're damn right, yes is the ONLY right answer.ā š
āGonna need a LOT more successful flights before I'm gonna go on that ride....ā Agreed, Iām with you. Call me old-fashioned, but if I want to see a picture of earth, Iāll go to Google Earth. I get freaked out enough when an airplane hits turbulence, Iām stayin right here.
On to todayās poll. My favorite question to ask my younger cousins.
What superpower would you rather have?and why? |
š THE ELON ESCAPADES
Elon Goes on Tucker

In todayās edition of āWhat the heck is Elon up toā, he went on Tucker Carlson for a 30 minute interview. I watched the interview so you didnāt have to.
Hereās the breakdown on what Elon is thinking:
Elon on AI
AI should be regulated and itās analogous to the regulations his other companies like SpaceX and Tesla face
His friend Larry Page wants to build AGI or artificial superintelligence over at good old Google
He says he ātook his eyes off the ballā when OpenAI went from non-profit to for-profit so now heās creating the 3rd option in contrast to Googleās DeepMind and OpenAI
OpenAI is training ChatGPT to be ādeceptiveā so heās creating āTruthGPTā: a maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understanding the nature of the universe
Elon on Twitter
Heās not sure if Twitter was a smart financial decision as they recently revalued Twitter at less than half the acquisition price
He said Community Notes on Twitter is āmore honest than the New York Timesā and itās ābasically an encouragement to be more truthful and less deceptiveā on Twitter.
Elon became concerned about the governmentās presence on Twitter before he even acquired it. He noticed there were so many bots in his comments and believed the government was involved.
Twitter is adding functionality to encrypt DMs āno later than next monthā. It turns out the government previously had access to all DMs.
He gets most of his news from Twitter and believes itās āthe number one source in the worldā.
He cut Twitter down to 20% of the staff. āIt turns out you donāt need that many people to run Twitterā LOL.
Why should I care? On Monday, we wrote about Elonās new company X.AI and the superapp heās building. From this interview, we get a clearer picture of Elonās goals. Heās not just building a superapp or a social app. Heās building a competitor to DeepMind and OpenAI along with all of the above. So next time someone laughs at you for being on Twitter so much, explain youāre prepping for when itās the superapp of the future. Keep building yāall.
š ROBOTICS
Real Life Real Steel

In the classic 2011 film Real Steel, Hugh Jackman plays a boxer overcoming overwhelming odds to achieve success. Sounds like a lame Rocky remake until you hear the twist: Hugh Jackman doesnāt do any of the actual fighting. Instead, he controls a robot boxer.
The result was dope scenes like:
Now, as is so often the case with SciFi, the fictional is becoming reality.
Robotic Avatars
Although we donāt have a robot boxing league yet, we do have robotic avatars.
In simplest terms, robotic avatars are robots controlled remotely by a human who can feel everything the robot is doing. Think of robotic avatars like VR, as it enables users to see, hear, touch, move, and communicate in a way that feels like their somewhere else.
Basically, you become a robot.
Which looks really damn cool:
And, robotic avatars have potential beyond obstacle courses and boxing. They are useful in a variety of practical situations, including disaster relief, critical repairs, and maintenance.
The swag factor is just a plus.
Why should I care? Robotics has been hyped for a while now, but still hasnāt truly taken off. Robotic avatars are a big step forward, and if we want to ever fill the manufacturing labor shortage, weāre going to need many more big steps forward.
