Well, those big guns came a few hours later with the release of Sora, OpenAI’s first text-to-video model.

What Sora does is turn text prompts into highly detailed video scenes of up to a minute. Sounds pretty cool, but the examples OpenAI gave us are absolutely ridiculous.

It can create a clip of Wooly Mammoths:

And papercraft coral reefs.

And fluffy monsters.

Sora’s in closed beta right now, but I know I can’t wait to cook up some clips for Homescreen.
