Meta always denied it, but c’mon, everyone knew it was happening. And now we know the extent to which it was happening, as the states have revealed that 1.1 million kids under 13 signed up for Meta’s products since 2019, and only a fraction of them were disabled.

Not only that, but Meta actively “coveted and pursued” those children and gave public statements praising the company’s age verification tools…even though they knew those tools were not adequate.

If you’re wondering why this is coming out now, it’s because Meta is being sued by the states for poor child safety.

And if you’re wondering what happens if they are found guilty, well they’d be on the hook for a fat fine, up to $50,000 per violation, which could add up to hundreds of millions of dollars.
