GA! It's Brett.

Spent the birthday reflecting on the past year. The music, the code, the videos, the creative stuff AI made possible. Wrote it all up below.

Also launched Micro on June 4. 821K views. The short version: AI has terrible memory. We fixed it. Micro now outperforms Claude, Codex, and OpenClaw on our memory benchmark, saves you 5 hours a week, and has the largest plugin collection for startups.

🔥 I turned 36. It doubled my life.

In Jewish numerology, 36 is "Double Chai" — life multiplied. Chai means life. 18 x 2. I don't know how much I believe in this stuff, but it's what I've been feeling reflecting on the past year.

Beneath the gigantic funding announcements and AI slop filling our feeds, there's a beautiful renaissance happening as a result of AI. And it's deeply personal.

People have always described me as creative. I've been making things my whole life — writing, design, music production. But I always felt blocked by my technical abilities. I had ideas for videos, software, and more that were simply out of reach. Even for the art I did do, I wasn't fast or good enough to fully express myself.

In one year, everything changed.

Music. I created hundreds of songs using Suno I'm genuinely proud of. Full album remixes of songs I wrote 10 years ago. An entire Broadway musical about the Mamdani administration that led to conversations about turning it into a real production. A fake soul band for Micro — Mika & The Romans — with a full album we use in our launch videos.

Writing. I got back into it through a Micro skill that takes a voice recording and turns it into an essay outline. Published essays on vibe coding, context farming, and a prediction on where the AI revolution goes. Outlined an entire book on Sprezzatura.

Code. I wrote over 500,000 lines of high-quality production code for the startup and was ranked top 1% of engineers by Weave. Being able to contribute code at scale as a founder has been a profound unlock.

Video. I became the tech industry's launch video critic — just randomly started reviewing videos one day, now people reach out for feedback every day. This year Micro released three launch videos, several viral. The latest is the one I'm most proud of. Almost completely done by me.

There was a cost. I didn't go out as much. Fell out of my workout routine. I'm fine with the tradeoff.

I once traveled the world for months and wound up depressed at the end. It was then I realized my happiest moments have always been ones where I'm creating things for myself and others.

We're no longer in a world where someone could say "I could never do that." You can do any of this. And you should.

Your prompts are leaving out 80% of what you're thinking.

When you type a prompt, you summarize. When you speak one, you explain. Wispr Flow captures your full reasoning — constraints, edge cases, examples, tone — and turns it into clean, structured text you paste into ChatGPT, Claude, or any AI tool. The difference shows up immediately. More context in, fewer follow-ups out.

💥 SpaceX prices this week. The largest IPO in history.

SpaceX roadshow has been running since June 4. Pricing happens June 11 (today!) after market close. First trade Friday June 12 on Nasdaq under SPCX. Full breakdown here.

The numbers: $135 per share. $1.77 trillion valuation. $75 billion raise — led by Goldman Sachs with a 21-bank syndicate. That puts SpaceX as the seventh-biggest company in the US by market cap, above Tesla. Largest IPO in history by dollars raised, eclipsing Saudi Aramco's $29.4 billion record.

What's in the S-1: Starlink generated $11.4 billion in revenue in 2025 with $4.4 billion in operating income — the only profitable business line. The xAI division posted $6 billion in losses in 2025 and burned $2.5 billion in Q1 2026 alone. Musk will retain over 82% voting control after the offering.

The context: if SpaceX pops on Thursday, the window opens for Anthropic in Q3 and OpenAI shortly after. Combined demand from SpaceX, Anthropic, OpenAI, Databricks, and Cerebras is estimated at $100-200 billion — exceeding the entire 2025 US IPO market by two to four times. Public markets have never absorbed this much AI supply in a single calendar year. Thursday is the first real test.

🧠 ON MY MIND

5 things on my mind this week:

  • WWDC 2026 started today — Tim Cook's final keynote. The headline: Siri is being rebuilt on a custom 1.2-trillion-parameter Google Gemini model, licensed at approximately $1 billion per year. Apple didn't build a frontier model — it bought access to one. iOS 27 will also let users choose Claude, Gemini, or ChatGPT as their default AI through a new Extensions system. Apple just became a distribution layer for the entire AI industry — 1.5 billion devices. The privacy company now runs on Google's model. Wild. — MacRumors

  • An amazing filmmaker is self-producing a feature film about SF’s crazy sidecar culture - Felix is an incredible filmmaker. I worked with him on a few projects. You can check out a preview of the film and donate to support it here.

  • Anthropic issued a rare public warning that its own models may soon be too powerful to control. Claude's capabilities are advancing faster than the interpretability tools needed to understand what's happening inside the model. Most AI labs don't publicly flag their own control risks. Anthropic's bet: transparency builds the trust needed to survive a regulatory environment that's tightening fast. The timing — right before an IPO — is either courageous or strategically calculated. Probably both. — Build Fast with AI

  • Colorado AI Act enforcement starts June 30 — 21 days away. The first real AI enforcement deadline on US soil. Covered: employment decisions, healthcare, financial services, educational access, housing, legal services. If you're building anything that touches these areas and serving Colorado residents, you need to be compliant in three weeks. Most founders haven't looked at this yet. — Build Fast with AI

  • Trump and Bernie Sanders are now on the same side of AI policy. Both are pushing for government equity stakes in AI companies — specifically OpenAI and Anthropic — before they go public. The coalition is strange: MAGA base views AI companies as Big Tech oligarchs; Sanders wants public ownership of transformative technology. Chance of passing: low. But the fact that both sides are converging on the same position means the political environment for AI IPOs just got more complicated. — Build Fast with AI

  • MCP adoption grew 58% quarter-over-quarter — 9,400 servers now registered. The Model Context Protocol has quietly become the standard for connecting AI agents with external tools and data. If you're building agentic workflows without MCP, you're building custom connectors that will become technical debt. The standardization moment is happening now. — AIapps

Last week's poll: AI generated. 60% of you got it right. The 40% who voted "Nope" were fooled — a black cat walking a white fence, car mirror in the corner, motion blur, everything about it screamed candid phone shot. The details AI gets right now are the ones that used to give it away.
